Island Life

As November crept in on me, it has became a wake up call that I'll be graduating in 2 more months and there are still tons of places I wanna visit before graduating. So, when Karsly called and ask me if I wanna join her and her bffs for a trip to Pulau Ketam a.k.a. Crab Island, I said yes without any hesitate, plus, Crab Island just so happen to be on my places-to-visit-before-I-graduate list. So, that's settled, we're gonna raid Crab Island.

Karsly, Pei Yin, Me, Jamie & Ruffy

Where is Crab Island if you may ask. It's located just off the coast of Port Klang. Getting there is easy, via KTM, Port Klang is the last stop, after 19 stops from Kuala Lumpur station. Yikes! But don't let that stop you because when you've arrived at Port Klang, all you need is a ferry ride across the ocean then you'll be on Crab Island in about 30 minutes or so.
My first boat ticket!
It's was already 3pm when we got there, so before heading off to explore the island, we stopped for lunch and saw our first crab! On a plate of bee hoon. After lunch, we headed out to see what the island holds in store for us. For those who don't wanna walk, you can always rent a bicycle there. FYI, bicycle is the main transportation there, due to the alley-size roads, there are no cars there. But, you can pretty much walked around the island without losing much calories because the island ain't that big after all.

There are so many Chinese temples on the island, I've lost count after the 6th temple we passed by. Some of the temples are quite beautiful architecturally. I guess the people on the island take their religious seriously.

Fishing is the main occupation around here, so fishing boats are a quite a common sight here. Owning a boat must have been like owning a car around here.

There ain't many breathtaking scenery on the island, the only thing will probably take your breath away is the smell of garbage underneath the bridges. FYI, the island is a bit dirty with garbage when the water level is low. Though we can't really blame them because they don't have garbage truck to pick up their garbage regular. So, I guess the island will look much better when the tide is high. As for it's main attraction, I think it's the whole island itself, it's not a sight you get to see everyday, plus, if we keep up our good work with global warming, Crab Island will pretty much sink itself to the sea bottom in years to come.

At the end of our trip, we left Crab Island on a speedboat in the setting sun. And we only saw one crab all the while we were there, yes, it's the one in our bee hoon.
