The Bruno Mars Curse

A few weeks ago, I can't stop singing Bruno Mars's It Will Rain, because every time I sang it, it does rain. Maybe it's some kind of curse. I stopped singing that song after a while, part of it is because it's getting a bit boring, and the other part is because I'm sick of the rain. Because when it rains, sometime it floods.

People at the United State get snow on Xmas day, which was today, according to our Malaysian time. But in the tropical country of Malaysian, sometimes we get rain, and that's what my hometown got this year for Xmas. Another flood. Yes, it's not our first time being flooded. It happen once a few years back, it was during Chinese New Year.

New House

Financially, I can't afford a new house, yet. But I guess my favorite murder house will no longer be there in season 2. So, a new house, maybe? With the season finale of American Horror Story ended today, well, yesterday morning to be exact, I'm officially ran out of tv shows to watch for the remaining of the year 2011 (PLL will be back on Jan 12 though, so YAY!)

So, I wasn't really sure what this show is about. I just downloaded the first two episodes because Ryan Murphy created it and I'm not anticipating that the ghost will be any glee-like. After watching the first episode, I was confused, yes, the show is so sick and twisted, and sexy at the same time (Dylan a.k.a Ben Harmon was butt-naked!). I planned to give it up but somehow I decided to watch the second episode where the house was invaded. From that point on, I just got hooked on so badly to this show. People who knew me knows that I'm not a big fan of horror movie ot tv show, but I just can't resist AHR.

The Season Of Convocation

Well, it's not my turn yet. It's just that the fact that I'll be graduating soon has taken a bit of toll on me. This past 2 weeks has been like a roller coaster ride, so much has happen and my blog post can't really keep up with all of these events. Speaking of convocation, I actually attended my very first one last week, as a seated guest with a proper invitation. It was Benson's convo.

A Date With Arts

It was not my typical Sunday where I will mostly get nothing done and just goof around til Monday come. I actually had a date with, drums roll please, yes, with arts. I admire arts and those who associate themselves with art, especially where there's a good cause involved.

At Central Market
I can hear these walls singing 'I'm pretty and I know it' lol
Loves these two painting
During Human Rights Day, which is celebrated annually across the globe on 10th December, an art expo called 'Arts For Grab' was held at one of the art gallery at Central Market in conjunction with this meaningful day. It's not just an art expo, which usually involved starring and buying stuff that you like, you can actually help make a difference by signing some petition to help change and maybe save the life of some people who was unfairly treated and being ripped off their human rights.

Our Collective Memory

Red & White & All That's In Between

When we get older, somewhere in our 40s, we will endure something we call 'Midlife-crisis '. Well, though there's still a long way to go before we hit that milestone, I'm considering the situation that we're in this moment, a 'Mid-graduation-crisis',where we're on the ledge of letting our student identity, but yet trying to hold on to the best of it. So, sometimes we attempt to relive those moments all over again, and we did it yesterday, by going back to the lake. It was 2 years ago since we last came here. We came back.

Starry Starry Night

I'm conflicted. I'm self-debating whether to write this post in Chinese or continue writing in English. I went with the later because maybe it might interest some people who don't understand Chinese to check out this movie that I've just watched. But if you do know Chinese and you can read my English, then you must check it out. It's a Chinese movie, based on the same title as the book by the famous writer/ artist Jimmy, 'Starry Starry Night' (星空). Yes, it's another book turned movie flick, but not in your typical cheesy way.

Going Back To School

On the 2nd day of December, I went to back to school, the school where I did my teaching practice from May til' August, just to get a signature from the principal. I know I did promise a few students that I would drop by sometime but eventually that never happen even if it's just walking distance from my university. Now, that I did went back, there were only a few students there, doing running practice on the field, the rest are now on their holiday break.

Gosh, I remember those days where I thought doing teaching practice was like a never ending unpleasant dream, I wouldn't say nightmare because it ain't that scary, it's just tiring. For 4 months, I've been many things here: an illegal motorcyclist, a raging teaching dealing with some devil spawns, a slave to the school management and so on. Now that it's over, I kinda miss being all those things. Oh yes, the school mention here is called SMJK Katholik Tanjong Malim.

50/50

It's almost 3 in the morning and I've just finish watching 50/50, on my laptop, not in the cinema which I initially intended to as it opens this week, on the same day as Breaking Dawn (FYI I saw that too). It seems like 50/50 premiered in the United State on 30th September, so the DVD's already out in the state by now. If you have not yet see it, you should, go to the cinema or download it like I did because it's a great movie.

Final Showdown

We did our last presentation today, technically it was yesterday since it's already 1.17 in the morning. After one presentation after another, this is the last one before we graduate. Gosh, we've come a long way haven't we.

My memory of my first presentation involved me trying to be funny, a set of power-point slides with tons of words and most of the time, I wasn't really sure what I was talking about. I've worked with so many people for these inevitable presentation and at the end of it all, I've found the one team that I work best with, I guess most of us found our own team that suit us the best. I don't me to brag but I always thought of my team as pretty awesome, even if we had our ups and downs.

The most unforgettable presentation was the one we did last year, when we conducted the whole thing in English. Ever since I knew that I'm stuck with doing Chinese for the rest of my 4 years here, I literally gave up hope on doing something with my English.  But when we were given a choice to carry out the presentation in Malay or in English, we choose the later. My teammates must have seen it as a suicidal mission but we managed to pull it off. Hey, we survived lol

So, no more presentations from now until who knows when. I'm gonna miss doing group discussion at the library even if I hated it there because it felt like The North Pole there. I'm gonna miss doing the rehearsal before the real presentation so we won't mess it up. As for the doing the report, I'm not gonna miss that part anytime soon. Before I click publish, I wanna take this opportunity to thank all of my teammates a.k.a. group members who have worked with me a long the way. Thank you for opening my eyes and I hope I opened yours too, even just a tiny bit. Thanks guys and gals XD

Ghost

American Horror Story
Somehow
I felt a ghost
lurking in my own comfort zone
to you it may be limbo
but to me it's my life.
Time will stood still
Life will pass me by
I'll still be me, myself & I.
I'm good at most things in life,
but never moving
because to move on
means forgiving & letting go
I have not master those craft.
This is the only life I know.

Island Life

As November crept in on me, it has became a wake up call that I'll be graduating in 2 more months and there are still tons of places I wanna visit before graduating. So, when Karsly called and ask me if I wanna join her and her bffs for a trip to Pulau Ketam a.k.a. Crab Island, I said yes without any hesitate, plus, Crab Island just so happen to be on my places-to-visit-before-I-graduate list. So, that's settled, we're gonna raid Crab Island.

Worst Team Ever

And by this I'm referring to the alphas team lead by Dr Rosen. Yup, the season finale aired a long time ago, but I'm not that eager to finished it because I'm slowly losing my interest in team, the same goes to The Lying Game and Suits too. Well, now that I finally watched all 11 episodes, all I can say is that they are the worst team of superheroes ever. I'm not saying this because all their superpowers have weakness, they have been a mess, ever since episode 1.
They need a better doctor

On The Way Home

No, I don't mean me. I'm still stuck here.
But most of the students already went home
for the holidays.
I'd be lying if I'm saying I don't miss home,
but when I was doing my occasional stalking on facebook,
I saw someone posted this picture,
and it looks kinda familiar.

On Broadway

Ruffy, Michelle, Jessie & Me.
Well, only Michelle & Ruffy in sight in the photo.
Technically, it was just a cafe called Broadway.
Just another night out,
before some went back for the holidays,
and some, like myself stayed behind.
The night is always young around here.
Always will be.

Ruffy's Birthday

Happy birthday to the first course-mate to ask for my number, he's my ex-roommate (thank god that's over 'cause most of the time when his alarm rang, I really wanna strangle him, I kid, I kid lol), and now we're housemate.

He's probably the most straight forward guy I know, he just don't know how to sugarcoat and making it more presentable, sometimes that include him. But that's just the way he is, he's real in his own weird way. I know I can be harsh on him sometime, but that's just my way of showing that I don't sugarcoat my feelings with him too, unlike what I didn't with some people around me.

So, I guess there's no beef between us, or am I wrong? lol Still, I gotta respect him for being true to himself, and hopefully the girl of his dream will realize that someday too and try to lead him to a more normal life. But until then, happy birthday Ruffy.

23, finally

Secret Codes & Battle Ships

Okay, it'd be pretty unfair if I don't write anything about an album, which I had on replay on my lappy and my Ipod for days now, and I'm pretty sure most people had forgotten about this guy, or haven't even heard of his name. The album that I'm taking about is called 'Secret Codes & Battle Ships' by Darren Hayes.

Stronger

Music is the best therapy if you're down and blue. You can't either turn on some sad songs and listen to them until you ran out of tissue. Or you can sang your angry heart out with some edgier songs. Kelly Clarkson's latest offering 'Stronger' is definitely the latter of the two genres. The whole album dealt on theme of betrayal, hurt and becoming a stronger person out of it all. There's no 'My Life Will Suck Without You' kinda love song on this record, and there's no 'Never Again' kinda rock song here too. In Kelly's own word, the album is pretty much 'In Your Face' kinda album. And I still LOVE it after the endless leaking from Kelly's team.

Look Out

Teddy had been on the look out for me all afternoon
by my window pane
I asked of him
To warn me if it rains
To call me if anyone visit
To inform me if anything interesting was happening below.
But nothing happen.
No rain.
No visitors.
Nothing interesting.
It's been a while since anybody was on the look out for me.
Thanks Teddy.

2nd Time Around: My Melaka Dream

There's something between me and Melaka, something that I just can't explain. I used to read about it in History class but I never dream that I could one day actually came here, to see with my very own eyes what remains and what it has become. It's pretty crowded with tourists but looking at its bits and pieces kinda make me sad, because who would have thought that a force so powerful in south east Asia would became just a tourist attraction. I guess everything came so quickly for Melaka, but it also ended as quickly as it begins.

While playing tourist there, I kinda really feel sad for Melaka. But hey, when I came here for the first time, I just couldn't get enough of it, not just the food, but the whole place. So, I really wish that I could come here again, and I did. So basically, I'm just gonna show you what I have been up to while I was there. There's no real life adventure, no romance and no people getting killed. Just pictures.

I actually went inside the church for once.

Birthday

Happy Birthday to the 2 guys who probably knew me better than any other guys here. 23 years old. I've been 23 for a few months now, and I can tell you that growing up kinda sucks. There's nothing much to look forward to life: first, there's our graduation. But before that, we still gotta finish our thesis, which seems like a Mission Impossible to me. After graduation, maybe there will be some unemployment for some time. Not to mention your love life will probably still be in the state of Limbo.  I didn't recall signing up for a lot of deep shit that life kept on throwing at me, do you?

Put The Pedal To The Medal

Okay, most of my Facebook friends knew that I'm currently roaming the street of Malacca with my trusty Iphone which is still running on IOS 4. But I'll save all that details for another post. So, if you wanna read on, please bare with me for a few minutes because I'm going to share a bit of my thoughts about Real Steel, the Hugh Jackman movie. Yes, the wolverine guy who has a real hell of a body.

Real Steel premiered today and I went and watched. If there's Hugh Jackman in it, you betcha I'll be there. So, the story goes like this: Sometime in the near future, around the year 2020, and I doubt that Malaysia has achieved its vision, there's no more WWE or WWF or what so ever wrestling competition. They replaced the real people who fight while wearing only their underwear with, get this. Robots! No, not your Transformer-type of robot, their version is much more realistic and they don't turn into cars or other machinery.

Crawling Back To You

So what if you made it to the top three on American Idol just to get your butt kicked by two singers who turn out to sell less record that you do. The whole point of these reality TV show is the exposure. Once viewers have seen you and heard you and they liked you, then you're paving your own golden brick road to stardom.

That's why happen to Chris Daughtry won came in 3rd place on American Idol. I thought he was good but I was rooting for Katherine Mcphee back then because I was hoping she'd be Kelly Clarkson 2.0, and I thought wrong. Taylor Hick won but the only two Taylor people remember these days are Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, which ironically broke up back in December. Plus, Taylor H. and Katherince M. both came out with flopping albums. But it was Daughtry who really stand out in the music industry. He was the first real rocker who came from Idols and he made it big. Real Big.

Black Apple

I thought it was just a joke when I saw one of my friend posted 'RIP Steve Jobs' on facebook. I thought she was referring to her disappointment on the Iphone 4S. But when more and more of this same status popped up, I knew something was wrong. After a little goggling, it has became a solid fact that the man behind the bitten apple has passed away, and he was only 56 years old.

Destiny must have a sense of humor, because it was only yesterday that the world (or at least half of the world) was celebrating the release of the Iphone 4S and the new IOS 5, I know I did. Apple proudly show off the new model of Iphone on their homepage, even if it look just like the Iphone 4. Now, fans of Apple mourned for the lost of Steve Jobs. Seriously, after death took Amy Winehouse, now he took Steve Jobs? I know the guy's sick, but this is just too sudden. I always thought he would stick around to wait for the Iphone 5. Guess we know what the S in the Iphone 4S stands for. It stands for Steve.

Iphone change the world, it's like the ancestor of touch screen phone, and along comes the Ipad, which almost is the ancestor of the tablet pc. Iphone and Ipad really raised the bar in the gadget world. Yeah, I know there are some people who thinks that it's not worth the money because there are cheaper models which give you what you look for in the Iphone and Ipad. But the Iphone and Ipad don't just rule the gadget world for no reason. There's a reason why people keep wanting more from Apple. Now that I own an Iphone, I know why.

Thank you Steve Jobs, for my Iphone and Ipod. You've changed my world. I hope you're in a better place. RIP.

I Have No Life At All

Well, except from all of the TV shows I watched. I know it's my last semester and I should really be worrying about my thesis but heck I still have time for tons of TV shows. Life gets lonelier when you get older, your best friends die one by one (pardon my pessimism),  you other friends start dating and started to orbit around some chicks instead of sticking to gravity, some of your not-so-close friends ended up marrying his laptop and move to a lonely island with wi-fi connection. Okay, I'm getting no where with this. My point is, if life sucks (which I think mine is slowing picking up on that), we might as well watch how other people lives their lives, maybe it be professionally or supernaturally.

So, there are some new shows I that picked up, along with some other running shows which survived the cut. So, here are some of my review of these shows, and if you're interested, you know where to find me, if you're not, then this is where you stop reading.

Para- Para- Paradise

Everybody knows Coldplay is huge! Coldplay is practically one of the most successful band around, they stand in the class of huge names such as  U2, Bon Jovi and so on. I'm not a big fan but I do pay attention everytime they released something new. They have a new album coming out soon, and they've dropped thier first single 'Every Teardrop's a Waterfall', which was good but the music kinda sounds like native Sarawak music.

But when I heard their second single 'Paradise', I was blown away. First of the all, the intro music was pure art and it instantly grabbed my attention. When the guitar and bass comes in, every single melody falls into place. Christ Martin's voice sang the lyric as if he was telling a story of a girl dreaming of a paradise. Man, they better have a beautiful video for this single or else I'm gonna be really pissed. For those who give a shit, check out Coldplay's live performance of the song below, and the lyric too.

The Killing Has Begun

When the season changes in the state, some TV shows come back to life. Finally, new The Vampire Diaries! I admit I'm still piss at the fact that this show LOVES killing its cast members. I mean look at Aunty Jenna. So, as the new episode premier, I won't expect the show to be more merciful. It never was.

A Promise To Someone

I made a promise to someone, who heard my cover song of Rainie Yang's cold war. Yes, people never saw me as a Rainie fan, but I do think some of her songs were actually pretty good, and Cold War was one of my fav.

So, I did a little cover of my own, and someone heard it. I ended up promising that someone that I would post it on the net, unlike my other covers. Ah ha, but that person just said on the net, but internet is a gigantic ocean, so I'm free to post it anywhere.

My first intention was to post it on Facebook, where everyone could see it, but the my link doesn't work. So, it's Plan B then.

Lost In Paradise

Okay, I'm a big fan of Evanescene, not because that I'm into emo or punk or metal or whatever you may call it. I just love Amy Lee (the lead singer)'s voice. She got herself a huge set of pipe, in my opinion, she's the emo version of Kelly Clarkson, which reminds me that Kelly once turn emo too on her My December album, which in turn sounds evanescene-ish, but not in a bad way.

So Evanescence has return to the music scene since their last hiatus, with their up coming self-title album, which had a lazy cover art work (no Amy Lee on the cover!? WTF?). The first single 'What You Want' was an instant hit, and the music video is yet soon to premier. The shocker comes when the standard edition of their album leaked online, ONE MONTH before its original release date. Never mind. We still have the deluxe edition to look forward to lol.

Disaster

Disaster's the word that would best describe Jojo's music career.
That was up until she released her new single 'Disaster'
She really slayed it with this single,
I actually preferred this
over Kelly's Bruno-Mars-ish Mr Know It All (Great song though)
and Leona's attempt to be dance floor friendly by 'Colliding'
I LOVED Jojo's single choice
even if it sounds like Too Little Too Late 2.0

A Concert? A Movie? A Concert Movie?

My first reaction was  'WTF' when they announced that they were making a Justin Bieber movie, or was it was concert? That's right, it's a concert movie! WTF was that? And in 3D!? It's annoying enough listening to him sing and seeing him in 2D, but now in 3D!? This has definitely push annoying to a new level.

The only concert movie that I was willing to spend my dough on will have to be Mommy Monster (done that on TV) or Brit Brit or Riri or Kitty Purry. Now those gals can make 4 or 5 concert movie for all that matters. But when the new about a Glee concert movie roll in, I wasn't shocked at all, I shoulda have seen this coming and I'm glad it did.

The Next Fullmoon

Americans are really lazy in terms of making tv shows,
yes, some shows run up to their 8th season (check House)
but some new shows just left viewers hanging there
at their season finale
or their summer finale
only returning to the TV screen
after a break of 4 or 5 months.
Yes, and most of their loyal viewers like me myself
still wants more.
My new guilty pleasure - MTV's Teenwolf
just ended their 1st season not long ago
after only airing 12 episodes.
Like usual, there's always a cliffhanger:

Stunning Bread

Stunning
If you know what I mean.

My new obssesion: Decode (The Acoustic Version)

I like the original version,
which was played during the credits
for the Twilight movie,
but I'm now officially obsessed with this version.
How can I not notice this sooner.
Some song sounds way better in acoustic,
This is definitely one of it.

Pissed

Yes, you pissed me off!
as if you're one of my pea-brained students.
I can use all of the vulgar words to describe you,
I can even write a novel about it.
Who the FUCK do you think you are!?
P/s eating spicy tomyam does not calm me down.

Never Forget

I first heard of them back in the late 2002,
and I hooked on them, no just because of the lesbian image they portrayed,
but really I just loved their music,
because nobody make this kind of music back them,
Gaga and Glambert haven't arrive to the music scene yet.
But back then, we have t.A.T.u.

Random #1

My celcom number died the other day,
only then I realize I haven't been using it much.
Since my arrival here in my uni life, I've switch to another teleco.
Not just that, it felt like I've switch to more new friends,
new surrounding, and a new life style.
Guess that some part of me hasn't been really here.
And maybe that part will never come back.

And here's some random shots which I see everyday.
Here
Alert. Watch out.

Food Bazaar

August means a lot of thing:
1. My last 4 weeks as a practical teacher.
2. The Hungry Ghost Festival (Soon, I guess.)
3. 31st August... Firework, parade & stuff... you know.
and this time around, Hari Raya is just around the corner.
But before that, the Muslim will have
a month's time to do their fasting,
Starting the first day of August.
Which means 1 thing to me: FOOD BAZAAR!
Half of the town musta been here.
 Us 4 little practical teachers
pay a little visit to one of the food bazaar here in Tanjong Malim,
Which turns out to be the BIGGEST one in town.
They must have been more than 100 stalls set up there.
Food sold here would fit a whole stadium field (Maybe just a small one)
They taste great if you're a fan of Malay food,
But I guess it's not just about the food,
Everybody's just in a festive mood.
Even me.

What I Don't Wanna Write

My blog comes and goes, it never did stay the same.
I'm not writing some shit to impress people.
Hell no, if any of my writing can impress
any living breathing human being,
Then I might as well start my own trilogy thriller teen novel series
Which might probably consist of anything
raging from wizard to vampires.
Well, what I can tell you is that there are several things
I don't wanna write:

1. My Life!: Not in general,
but in specific until the very cell of every details.
Like when I've eaten, when I've shit, whom I've go out with.
I'm not writing to prepare for the Alzheimer's disease,
Which I'm not going to have when I'm old.

2. Advices!: Because I'm no doctor,
and as a friend, I can only give u suggestions,
which I can't guarantee it's bulletproof.
But I do care, but as a friend, not a shrink.

The New Heroes

Wonder who missed Heroes,
It blew our mind when it first came out,
But after season 1, more and more characters were being add,
and the storyline got kinda outta hand.
After season 4, it was axed.
There hasn't been any superheroes tv show
that can surpassed Heroes
Well, at least for me.
And then come along Alphas.
Which premiered on Syfy not long ago.
It's about a team of Alphas a.k.a superheroes
lead by Dr Rosen
who seems like a older version of Professor X from The X-men,
minus the wheelchair.
The team of Alphas aimed to help the other alphas out there
who basically poses danger to human at some extends.
The main alphas has power
but it ain't that cool compared to what we've seen from Heroes,
but the storyline is quite amazing so far from what I've seen,
I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping they won't add
too many crappy characters to the show.
I hate to see it get axed after season 1,
when the chaotic Heroes can survived 4 seasons.

A Taste From Home

Well, not exactly from my home,
But it's from Sarawak,
So this piece of cake will do for the time being
Thanx Sly for the cake.
