50/50

It's almost 3 in the morning and I've just finish watching 50/50, on my laptop, not in the cinema which I initially intended to as it opens this week, on the same day as Breaking Dawn (FYI I saw that too). It seems like 50/50 premiered in the United State on 30th September, so the DVD's already out in the state by now. If you have not yet see it, you should, go to the cinema or download it like I did because it's a great movie.

First of all, I gotta admit that I'm a sucker for life-threatening-disease-theme movie for example 1000 Liters of Tear. Secondly, I'm a sucker for Joseph Gordon-Lewit, not in an obscene kind of way, he's just such a great actor and he's pretty much welcome to incept my dreams anytime. And telling me that this movie is based on a real life story, now who am I to say no to this combination.

27 years old Adam, played by JGL is diagnosed with an kind of cancer that I can't pronounce or spell, and his survival rate is 50/50. So, as Kyle (played by Seth Rogen, the white guy with Jay Chou in the Green Hornet) sees it: If you were casino game, you would have the best odds. It's a story about friendship, love, family and finding humor in unlikely places.

When Death is on your tail, your option in life is limited, the time you have is limited. It's amazing how Adam deal with it all, as his girlfriend cheated on him (Really? When your boyfriend has cancer? Girl, you're going to hell) , and he can turns to his mom because she's always so nagging and she has her hands full with his dad who has Alzheimer, and he only has one best friend with nothing but thinking of getting laid every night in his head, and a super skinny retired race dog named Skeletor. Talk about hitting rock bottom. The only he can talk about his condition is with his newbie psychiatrist Katie. For Adam, this is rock bottom. Plus, he can't drive. Super rock bottom.

But as his condition worsen, he slowly realizes that people around him are trying their best to help him, his mom attend cancer support group, dick head Kyle reading books on cancer. Then, it turns out that the chemo didn't work and a surgery is the last resort. So, I'm gonna spoil it for you after this so stop reading now if you don't wanna know how it ends. Yes, he did survived the surgery, with a ugly looking scar on his back. Thank goodness, life would be pretty unfair if Adam didn't make it, I mean, look at what he has been through. But then again, life doesn't always fair to each and everyone of us.

"You can't change your situation. The only thing you can change is how you deal with it" - Katie.

50/50. Yes or no. Live or die. This is life.
